New route coming up this summer: Emirates will fly to Porto in Portugal

Dubai (TAN): Emirates will fly to Porto, Portugal’s largest city, four times a week from July 2, 2019.

The airline presently operates to Portuguese capital Lisbon from Dubai twice daily. With the introduction of the new route, Porto will become Emirates’ second destination in the country.

Located in northwest Portugal, the coastal city of Porto is known the world over for its cultural heritage and port wine production. The city, important in terms of tourism and trade, attracts visitors for both leisure and business.

Travellers in northern Portugal and northwestern Spanish cities of Vigo and Santiago de Compostela are also expected to find the new route useful.

Emirates’ President Tim Clark said: “Porto is currently enjoying increased levels of tourism, which is also reflective of the growth in the number of visitors to Portugal as a whole. The introduction of this new flight, along with our twice daily Lisbon service, will help meet this growing demand from both leisure and business travellers, as well as provide them with more choice, flexibility and connectivity when travelling to and from Portugal.”

Emirates will deploy its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to serve the new route.

The aircraft will offer eight private first class suites, 42 seats in business class and 310 seats in economy class.

Emirates will operate the route on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

According to the schedule, flights EK197 will depart Dubai at 0915 hours and reach Porto at 1430 hours, local time. The return flight, EK198, will take off from Porto at 1735 hours and arrive in Dubai at 0415 hours the next day.
