Korea Festival in Mumbai to woo Indian tourists

Mumbai (TAN): The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) is hosting a two-day ‘Korea Festival’ on April 13 to 14 at the High Street Phoenix shopping mall here to market the Korean art and culture as well as promote South Korea as a tourist destination.

The Korea Culture Center  is also organising a ‘Korea Movie Weekend’ at the PVR Juhu cinema in the city.

Korea Festival will include performances by the country’s bands such as Queen, In2it, AlexandrA, and Gamblers Crew.

KTO international tourism division executive vice-president Park Jeong Ha said: “We are very pleased to host the Korea Culture and Tourism Festival in Mumbai… The festival will allow Indians to feel and experience traditional as well as modern Korean culture.”

Ha said 100,000 Indians visited South Korea and 2018 and the number of tourists from India was increasing at the rate of 10-15 per cent a year.

The KTO and the Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance outbound tourism from India to Korea.

KTO director Kwon Jong Sool said: “We believe there is tremendous untapped potential between these two countries.
