Red tourism: China promotes sites with revolutionary history connect

Beijing (TAN): China’s tourism and culture ministry is making efforts to promote “red tourism”, which includes visits to sites with revolutionary historical significance, the Chinese news agency Xinhua reported.

According to official records, China has 33,315 revolutionary sites and relics.

More free museums connected to such tourism sites will come come for tourists, the report added.

The government has instructed the red tourism spots to cooperate with the nearby schools, Communist Party of China (CPC) committees and various government institutions to grab the attention of more students and party members. Revolutionary sites will help them gain knowledge about the revolutionary history of the country.

More than 800 million red tourism trips are made in China every year.

Jinggangshan, a province in East China that has revolutionary history, has seen 10 million tourists within the first 10 months of its opening. Many tourists visit the area sporting the Red Army uniform, the report added.
