Scotland: Engine pulls out of station for new season of ‘Harry Potter’ train

Glasgow (TAN): Scotland’s Jacobite train, also known as the ‘Harry Potter’ train, has opened for its 2019 season.

Operated by West Coast Railways, the steam trains are known all over the world for their Harry potter connection, especially the Glenfinnan Viaduct, made popular by films featuring everyone’s favourite wizard.

Starting its journey from the Scottish town of Fort William in the western Scottish Highlands, the train completes a 84-mile return trip through some of the most picturesque landscapes on the planet.

In its 26th year, the morning service will run from Monday to Friday until October 25, 2019, and on weekends from May 4 to September 29, 2019. The Jacobite will operate afternoon service Monday to Friday between May 13 and September 13, 2019, and on weekends from June 15 to September 1, 2019.

Touted to be the ‘greatest railway journey in the world’, the route starts near Britain’s highest mountain Ben Nevis, and passes by Europe’s deepest seawater lake Loch Nevis before arriving at Mallaig, a fishing port with a ferry terminal to the Isle of Skye and Small Isles.
