Come June, SilkAir to fly to Cairns 7 days a week

Singapore (TAN): SilkAir, the regional subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, will start two more flights to Cairns in Queensland, Australia from June, the airline has said.

With the increase in flights, Silk Air will fly between the two cities on all seven days of the week. The new flights will operate on Sundays and Tuesdays.

The airline will use Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft on this route fitted with 12 Business Class and 144 Economy Class seats.

“We are proud to announce a daily service to Cairns, providing greater accessibility and connectivity for our customers,” SilkAir chief executive Foo Chai Woo, said.

“Together with Tourism and Events Queensland, we look forward to bringing even more travellers to Australia’s adventure capital, home to world famous sights such as the UNESCO listed Great Barrier Reef and Daintree rainforest,” he added.

Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays will see flights depart from Singapore at 01.10 and land in Cairns at 09.55, while the return flight will take off from Cairns at 10.45 and reach Singapore at 15.25.

On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, flights from Singapore will leave at 08.45 and arrive at Cairns at 17.15. The ones from Cairns will take off at 18.15 and land in Singapore at 23.05.

All the timings are in local time.

Apart from Cairns, SilkAir flies to Darwin in Australia, while Singapore Airlines operates to Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth.
