Vancouver (TAN): A record 21.13 million tourists visited Canada in 2018, reveal official figures.
“2018 was the best year for Canadian tourism on record, with arrivals reaching 21.13 million, breaking the 21 million mark for the first time ever,” Destination Canada, the government-owned tourism promotion body, said.

“A record breaking performance in December brought 2018 US arrivals to 14.44 million, the highest level recorded since 2004,” it added.
In 2018, Canada welcomed 737,379 people from China, up by 6 per cent from 2017, 604,166 from France (increase of 5 per cent over 2017) and 404,402 people from Mexico, an increase of 5 per cent over the previous year.

Arrivals from India saw a whopping 15 per cent rise and touched 287,416.
Despite 2018 being a record-breaking year for Canadian tourism, arrivals from the UK, Japan, South Korea and Australia markets saw negative growth.
