(TAN): Living like a royal might attain a whole new meaning when visitors come to holiday in Versailles in spring 2020. Because the 2300-room UNESCO-designated palace will then be ready to welcome guests to the first-ever hotel, Le Grand Controle, on its grounds, reports said.
Situated within the Chateau de Versailles complex, the luxury property of French hospitality company Airelles Collection will overlook the Orangerie – a building that shelters orange and other trees in the winter, and the water body Piece d’Eau des Suisses that was constructed by the Swiss Guards in the late 17th century.

“A stunning new house is soon to be unveiled in a setting steeped in history and situated just a stone’s throw from Versailles’ famous Hall of Mirrors and quintessentially French gardens,” the hotel’s website said.
Airelles Chateau de Versailles, Le Grand Controle will offer 14 rooms and apartments, a restaurant, a wellness centre, and indoor swimming pool. It will be designed by Christophe Tollemer in the 18th century style.
One of France’s biggest tourist attractions, the Chateau de Versailles was the seat of Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette’s reign. The website promised to take its guests on “a unique journey through time to the Age of Enlightenment and the court of the Kingdom of France”. The palace is located around ten miles southwest of Paris, and sprawls over an area of 679,536 square feet.

Le Grand Controle translates to the Grand Control building, one of the buildings where the hotel will be housed. Built in the 17th century, it was where the palace finances were managed.
Airelles Collection has not yet revealed the hotel’s rates, although bookings will reportedly begin next month.
