(TAN): Phuket is planning to welcome back tourists who intend to stay for a long time from as early as November, Bangkok Post reported.
This would be carried out under a model dubbed 4T, which stands for Target, Testing, Tracing and Treatment. The plan looks to balance public health issues with economic recovery.
“We should start with a small group of long-stay tourists. Chartered flights will be the answer and we can begin on November 1,” the report quoted Bhummikitti Ruktaengam, president of the Phuket Tourist Association, as saying.

Visitors will need to take a COVID-19 test to ensure they are virus-free before departure. On arrival in Phuket, visitors will be tracked to mitigate risks of transmission.
Phuket is among the most popular tourist destinations in Thailand. It received 14 million tourists in 2019. The pandemic has dealt its economy a devastating blow.
