(TAN): A British tourist has died after falling from a seventh-floor window of a hotel in Turkey. Antony McDowall, 35, from Glasgow, was reportedly visiting Istanbul with his former girlfriend and another American friend, media reports said.
A video clip of the incident, believed to be taken by locals, Anthony, wearing only shorts, clinging to the top-floor ledge while apparently trying to edge his way over to the next window. While shifting his body weight to the adjacent window, he lost his balance and fell out of sight.

Onlookers reportedly watched the Briton fall to his death on Hacimimi Mahallesi Karabas Street in the district of Beyoglu, on the European side of Istanbul. Reports quoted officials as saying he died on the spot.
According to reports, McDowell came from Britain on September 15. His former girlfriend Estee Mun B. also landed in Istanbul the same day. The two then met Raul M., an American citizen who has been in Istanbul for a month, and the three spent the night in the same room at the hotel in Karaköy.
On the morning of September 16, the three apparently had a verbal fight in the hotel lobby, after which McDowell went to his room alone. Police have confirmed this from the CCTV footage. Some opiate drugs have reportedly been found in the room.

McDowell was apparently alone in the hotel room when he was dangling from the window. The reason behind this is still unknown.
Although born in Britain, McDowall was reportedly travelling on a US passport. The UK Foreign Office is supporting the family of the deceased and is in touch with the local authorities, said a spokesman.
