(TAN): Two resorts in Maldives will reopen shortly — Seaside Finolhu on November 1 after renovation, and Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa on October 1.
Operated by the German luxury hotel chain, Seaside Collection, the resort recently rebranded its name from simply Finolhu, which translates as “sandbank” in the local language, to Seaside Finolhu. The new designs throughout the resort are inspired by the vibrant natural hues of the island’s stunning flora, fauna, sunsets and seascapes.

Combining dashes of traditional Maldivian culture with contemporary lifestyle convenience, the overall ambiance of the resort is described as “barefoot chic” by Marc Reader, Seaside Finolhu’s general manager. “It’s a design-driven balance between style and escapism,” he said. “Here you can unwind in sublime comfort, with the pristine beauty of our secluded Maldivian paradise perfectly complemented by ultra-luxurious modernity.”
The Seaside Finolhu features 125 villas, 76 of which have their own pool. Muza Lab’s co-founder Inge Moore explained the lengths that they have gone to in order to bring the design concept to life: “Artisans from all over the world have created special works for the resort. Artistic tiles from Turkey, chandeliers and wickerwork from South Africa and wooden craftwork from Java transform the villas, bars & restaurants, the fitness room and, last but not least, the Oceaneers Kids Club into an exotic playground.”
Seaside Finolhu’s all-day dining restaurant serves international fare during the day, while destination-themed dining experiences are saved for the evenings. For guests looking to grab a drink, the new Milk LAB serves a selection of refreshing milkshakes, protein drinks and fresh coffee. The resort also features a spa, several indoor and outdoor activities including kayaking, windsurfing, paddle boarding and jet skiing.

Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa, a five-star resort with 176 guest rooms is situated on the private Furana island, a 15-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport in Male. Furanafushi is one of the few larger islands in North Male Atoll, enabling the resort to enjoy a wide layout with ample space between facilities.
The resort offers seven unique restaurants and bars, Shine Spa for Sheraton located on its own island and three outdoor tropical freshwater pools. “We are thrilled to be welcoming our guests back to Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa,” said Emilio Fortini, general manager. “October marks the beginning of the alluring winter season. Typically, a high-demand period for Maldives. The safety of our guests has always been our utmost priority.”

Keeping in mind the Covid-19 situation, the resort has taken special cleaning and social distancing measures to ensure safety of the guests.
