(TAN): Kuwait health authorities have rejected a proposal by the country’s civil aviation department to shorten the quarantine period for travellers, said reports. A proposal had been submitted to the health minister a week ago but Al Rai media quoted a source as saying there has been no change in the quarantine period for those arriving from abroad.
In addition, the travel ban imposed on 34 countries also remains in effect, say sources. Some countries might be added or removed from the list depending on the health situation and the recommendation from health officials in the respective countries. France, Argentina and Yemen have been recently added to the banned list, while Singapore was removed.

The civil aviation department had suggested reducing the home quarantine for passengers arriving from abroad from 14 days to seven days, pointing out that it would have a positive effect on the travel industry and alleviate the economic effect. Currently, the Kuwait International Airport is operating at 30% of its capacity. Deputy Director General for Airport Affairs Saleh Al Fadaghi was quoted by Gulf News as saying that full functioning of the airports will resume once a Covid-19 vaccine is available.
However, the Executive Committee for the Restarting of Commercial Flights has decided to exempt aircraft and technical crew from the mandatory 14-day home quarantine. The aircraft staff and crew will be continuously examined and tested to ensure all health precautions are taken.
