(TAN): AIDA Cruises’ ship AIDAprima was on December 8 supplied with 100% biofuel in the port of Rotterdam (Netherlands) for the first time, the cruise company said in a news release, adding that it is continuing its collaboration with the Dutch biofuel firm GoodFuels.
“With the use of biofuels, we are demonstrating that the decarbonization of ships already in service is possible. The biggest challenge for the entire shipping industry is their availability on an industrial scale and at marketable prices,” said AIDA President Felix Eichhorn.

On July 21, AIDAprima was supplied with a blend of sustainable marine biofuel and marine gas oil (MGO) from GoodFuels.
The innovative biofuel is derived from raw materials that are 100% certified as waste or residual, and thus do not consume agricultural land for food production or cause deforestation.
