Beijing (TAN): American hotel chain Marriott International has opened a JW Marriott hotel in the historic city Qufu in Shandong province of East China, famous for being the hometown of Chinese philosopher and politician Confucius.
JW Marriott Hotel Qufu became the brand’s first property in the province and 16th in the country.

“JW Marriott, with its distinctive JW Treatment brand philosophy, continues to grow strongly here in China, resonating with consumers who seek exceptional quality and thoughtfully crafted service,” said Chief Operations Officer and Managing Director of Marriott International in Greater China, Henry Lee.
“We look forward to welcoming guests to the new JW Marriott Hotel Qufu. From sightseeing and sampling the traditional cuisines of Qufu, to organizing a memorable event or a simple romantic getaway – JW Marriott Hotel Qufu will delight the most discerning of world travelers who come to this beautiful ancient city,” he added.
Owned by Chinese football club Shandong Luneng and designed by China-based engineer Kai Cui, the hotel incorporates a contemporary feel into ancient Chinese architecture. While the building’s exterior features Chinese rooflines and sixteen Chinese chimes adorn the porch, the lobby houses a statue of Confucius under a gingko tree, and a moon gate.

JW Marriott Hotel Qufu consists of 188 guestrooms, nine suites, and a fitness centre. For event spaces, guests can opt for the Grand Ballroom or the smaller Function Room.
Guests can sample Chinese delicacies including traditional Kongfu dishes, also called ‘Dishes of the Confucian Mansion’ at Residence, the hotel’s signature hotel. JW Kitchen, with an open kitchen and modern vibe, dishes out local as well as global cuisines. Tearooms The Lounge and the Tea Library serve local Chinese tea.
