Five Copenhagen hotels capture top spots in global travel magazine awards

The city of Copenhagen came out ninth among the the ten best big cities in the world.

(TAN): Five Copenhagen hotels have been featured among the top-25 hotels in Northern Europe in this year’s Condé Nast Traveler Readers Choice Awards. Copenhagen also came out as one of the ten best big cities in the world.

The Condé Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice Awards were announced on October 6 with several top spots for the Danish capital and its hotels. Copenhagen was placed at number nine among the top ten best big cities in the world, chosen for its many Michelin star restaurants, charming old-school architecture and inspiring biking culture.

Skt. Petri in the Copenhagen city center was chosen as the best hotel in Northern Europe and also made it to the top ten in all of Europe. Located in a transformed former department store, the relaxed luxury vibe and unique design details are what makes this hotel so special.

Three of the boutique hotels by Danish hotel group Brøchner also made the cut with #10, 21 and 23 for the hotels SP34, Hotel Danmark and Hotel Ottilia. 

Brøchner is known for placing their hotels in unique buildings and using the original features as an active element in their design and architecture. The newest addition, Hotel Ottilia, opened last year in the upcoming Copenhagen area of Carlsberg Byen, which has previously housed the brewery giving the area its name.

5-star hotel Herman K, previously run by Brøchner, also made the list as number 18. Located in a former transformer station, the place is known for its luxurious design and respect for the original brutalist architecture.
