(TAN): Croatia has generated revenues of over EUR 9.4 billion (USD 10.6 billion approximately) from international tourists during the first nine months of 2019, reports said.
The data, reportedly released by the Croatian National Bank, showed a 9% increase from the comparable period of 2018, that had posted EUR 8.6 billion in terms of revenue.
According to reports, Minister of Tourism, Gari Cappelli said the revenue growth was a result of 5% more tourist arrivals to over 20 million.

“This year, we achieved 5% more tourist arrivals with an increase of 9%. Over the next year, with the introduction of the “Croatian Tourism Card”, which we estimate to increase revenues by an additional HRK 1.35 billion (USD 200 million approximately), I am sure that we will lay the groundwork for further enhancing the value of our tourist offer and thereby further emphasise our position on the world tourism market,” Cappelli was quoted by Total Croatia News as saying.
He reportedly added that revenue grew because of the correct strategies the government had taken.
“This Government is focusing on the growth and development of Croatia’s quality tourism offer, and this year’s results are the best evidence of the increase in the value of Croatian tourism supply, in which we have almost doubled the growth rate of revenue compared to the growth rate of tourist traffic,” Cappelli was quoted by Croatia Week as saying.
He recently announced plans for the country’s tourism in 2020, including Croatian Presidency of the European Union Council, and participating in the Dubai World Exhibition.
“In 2020, numerous international events that Croatia will participate in and those organised in the country are a great opportunity to present everything we have to offer, and tourism will certainly be one of the carriers because of the promotional opportunities and brand strength of the tourist destination,” Total Croatia News quoted him as saying.
As per reports, revenues from foreign visitors was worth EUR 6.64 billion during the third quarter of 2019 spanning over July, August and September – up 9% vis-à-vis the comparable period last year.
