(TAN): Hilton has announced the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Waterfront, an 18-story, 229-room newly developed hotel, which is the latest addition to Hilton’s expanding portfolio in Western Australia. DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Waterfront is owned by SKS Group and managed by Hilton.
“Opening the spectacular DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Waterfront today is a wonderful way to close out 2020,” said Heidi Kunkel, vice president, operations, Australasia, Hilton. “It represents the brand’s third hotel in Western Australia, which will be joined by new hotels, in Albany in 2021 and Busselton in 2022, and reinforces Hilton’s commitment to double its footprint in Australasia in the next five years.”

DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Waterfront features uninterrupted Swan River and city views, and is strategically located beside landmark waterfront development Elizabeth Quay, which connects Perth’s CBD to the river. It is walking distance to many of Perth’s most popular tourist attractions, including the Western Australian Museum, Bell Tower, and Kings Park Botanic Gardens. Ferries that take visitors to Perth Zoo and Rottnest Island are right on the hotel’s doorstep. The city’s international airport is just 13 km or 20-minute drive from the hotel.
The hotel’s opening incorporated an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander smoking ceremony and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. It was officiated by Perth’s Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas, Windi Sim, managing director, SKS Group, and David Constantine, area general manager, Hilton Western Australia.
“We are thrilled to launch our second DoubleTree by Hilton in Perth,” said Alexandra Jaritz, senior vice president, brand management, Asia Pacific, Hilton. “Our brand philosophy for more than 50 years has been to make guests feel comfortable, from the warm DoubleTree Cookie welcome and serving the local community, to innovating for the future through contemporary accommodations and amenities.”

The hotel enjoys many unique design features, notably the building’s extension out over the Swan River. Local artist Tom Muller designed an exterior artwork named Aqua Lux, which translates to ‘light of the water’. The artwork spans across the entire perimeter of the building and was designed to emulate the many facets and moods of the Swan River.
DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Waterfront offers exceptional dining experiences through its three food and beverage outlets, where there is a strong focus on sustainability and local produce sourced directly from farm to table. In Reel Kitchen, guests will enjoy thoughtfully curated local specialties, available all day. The restaurant features an open kitchen concept, plus uninterrupted river views from its full-length glass windows. At 18 Knots rooftop bar, guests also enjoy 360-degree views, whilst they sip a drink beside the hotel’s rooftop pool. Oar Bistro is the hotel’s café for deli and bakery treats, with boardwalk riverside seating.
Featuring 440 square meters of meeting space, DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Waterfront is an ideal venue for weddings, business meetings and special events. The largest event space, measuring 360 square meters, can accommodate up to 300 guests in a cocktail setting. The two flexible meeting rooms are equipped with the latest audio-visual and technical facilities, as well as floor to ceiling windows that overlook the bustling city, allowing plenty of natural light.
