(TAN): Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Khaled al-Anani met with Greek Minister of Tourism, Harris Theocharis in Athens, Greece to discuss ways of developing maritime tourism and forming joint tourism programmes between the two nations, reports said.
The discussions included the trilateral cooperation agreement signed in 2017 between Egypt, Greece and Cyprus in the area of maritime tourism, as per reports.
According to reports, Anani, who visited Greece upon being invited, discussed with Theocharis cooperation between the two countries in the area of tourism, stressing on the cultural importance of Egyptian ports and sites. They discussed how promoting such tourism could push cultural and religious tourism among Greek visitors, reports said.
The two ministers also explored ways of creating an integrated tourism project between the two countries – the ministers said this project would be promoted in global tourism forums and on social media, as per reports.
Meanwhile, they also agreed to conduct a bilateral meeting in Egypt to complete the discussions, and organise a joint workshop in Egypt where tourism experts from both countries will meet to share ideas and expertise, reports said.
Athens, where the meeting between the leaders took place, is the capital of Greece. Also considered the historical capital of Europe, the city is still dominated by antique landmarks, including the Acropolis.
