Amsterdam (TAN): The tulip season is here in the Netherlands and the country’s tourism bureau expected a million-plus tourists coming the witness the country’s national flower this Easter weekend.
Unfortunately, the tourist buzz, more often than not, turns out detrimental to the health of the flowers.
The tulip fields in Creil, in the northwest of Amsterdam, have signs and barricades printed both in Chinese and English, that say: “Enjoy the flowers, Respect our pride”.
The flower farmers are fine with tourists appreciating and clicking pictures of their flowers from afar. But when they try to tiptoe in through the plans and trample on them by mistake is when things go wrong.

Boolenstreak, a tulip belt, extending from the Haarlem to Leiden along the Dutch coast, is expecting more than 17 million tourists this season.
Also in The Hague, tourists gather in April to witness the Keukenhof flower show.
Some tulip sites have designated selfie zones for visitors.
