(TAN): Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa has been awarded the coveted Forbes Five-Star Award during the inaugural year of Forbes inspections in the Maldives. The Resort joins 56 Four Seasons hotels and resorts worldwide to receive the Five-Star rating in 2020; the most ever awarded to a single hotel brand.
“This award belongs in its entirety to our wonderful staff, who bring the Kuda Huraa magic to life every day,” comments General Manager Randy Shimabuku. “In one of the most saturated resort destinations in the world, it takes a lot to be noticed in the Maldives.”
“We’re proud to have been a flag-bearer over the years, including being the first resort to bring luxury surfing to the Maldives, and the first to take steps to protect the country’s precious reefs. Our pioneering ‘ocean devotion’ ethos has developed from early experiments with reef balls to boost ailing reefs back in 1999 to our cutting-edge Marine Discovery Centre today, where coral reef propagation and baby turtle care are just some of our conservation initiatives,”he added.
The Five-Star Forbes rating follows hot on the heels of a major facelift at the Resort, which has seen the addition and update of spacious ocean-living accommodations as well as the revamped Reef Club and new-look Island Spa.
Flanked by a lapping lagoon and abundant gardens, the recently unveiled Beach Pavilions offer the ultimate laidback island escape: think water feature fountains splashing into extended pools; secluded garden seating; and private beach access that invites the outside in.
A Mediterranean twist at the revamped Reef Club includes a menu fresh with the flavours of Executive Sous Chef Daniele Milliani’s Tuscan childhood, alongside beautiful al fresco dining spaces that exude the laidback vibe of Europe’s southern coast.

Meanwhile, a traditional dhoni whisks guests across the lagoon to the new-look Island Spa: a haven of peace and purity where white walls, Moorish arches, water ponds, lush foliage and ocean treatments set the scene for nature-inspired therapy. A Night Spa ritual on a new rooftop terrace under a blanket of stars completes the magical experience.
The Forbes accolade kicks off an exciting year for Kuda Huraa. 2020 sees Kuda Huraa celebrating 10 years of its innovative Turtle Conservation Program; it also marks the 10th anniversary of the thrilling Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy – the “world’s most luxurious surfing event” – due to be held at Kuda Huraa from August 10 to 17, 2020.
