Colombo (TAN): Sri Lanka has included the two biggest contributors to its tourism market – India and China – in the list of countries whose citizens can avail the island nation’s visa on arrival free of cost.
The visa scheme was originally introduced to increase the off-season tourism during the period from May to October. But then the terrorist attacks in Colombo happened and the tourism sector was hit hard.

The government hopes the new move will help bring back tourists.
Indian tourists account for around 18 per cent of total tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka.
A total of 49 countries are now on Sri Lanka’s free visa-on-arrival list.
