Dar managed to save five tourists but couldn’t survive himself. The authorities couldn’t trace Rouf on Friday and had to suspend search operations after night fell. They only found the body in the early hours of Saturday.
The government has announced a compensation for the family of Dar, who is survived by his wife, parents, a brother and sister, Greater Kashmir reported.
Rouf Ahmad Dar has been hailed as a hero both by the administration and local people.
