(TAN): The Indian and Greek ministers of tourism discussed the launch of new direct flight between the two countries to give a push to tourism, reports said.
Greece’s tourism minister Haris Theocharis reportedly met with his Indian counterpart, Prahland Singh Patel, during his trip to India to attend the Outbound Travel Market 2020 trade fair. The ministers also agreed to strengthen cooperation in investments related to tourism, as per reports.

Theocharis reportedly said the ministry was drafting a new strategic plan focusing on certain areas in order to draw more Indian tourists.
“We believe that luxury tourism, conference tourism and wedding tourism are the main domains where Greece has a lot to offer to Indian visitors, who are quality tourists, so we are focusing our actions on these forms of tourism,” he was quoted by Ekathimerini.com as saying.
India, one of the biggest emerging travel markets across the world, sent 30% more tourists to Greece in 2019 in comparison to the previous year, a report said. Greek Tourism Minister reportedly said the growth will be higher in the near future.
He also discussed the significance of Greece’s Golden Visa residence permit during a meeting with representatives of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, reports said.

The minister reportedly said India is a potential market for high quality tourists to Greece.
“It is a fact that the average spending of the Indian tourist visiting our country is some EUR 1,000 (USD 1,098.42 approximately), while our general average is around EUR 560. So it is clear to us that the tourist from India visiting Greece is a quality tourist,” he was quoted by Greek Travel Pages as saying.
