London (TAN): United Kingdom-based hospitality giant InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has recently added a second property in its home country under the group’s newly launched brand ‘voco’.
IHG will open the property under a franchise agreement with CL Capital in the West Midlands market town of Solihull.

“This is an incredibly exciting time. voco will be a fantastic addition to Solihull, and we are proud to be the first voco property in the Midlands. We want voco St. John’s, Solihull to be an inviting place for both hotel guests and our local community, and we look forward to them experiencing the new brand. Located to the south east of Birmingham, the 180-room hotel underwent a major renovation to incorporate the brand’s ‘bold and distinctive interior design’. The property will feature 13 event spaces, a restaurant and bar, a health club with indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym.
IHG’s newest brand ‘voco’, meaning ‘to invite’ or ‘come together’ in Latin, was launched in June 2018 with a view to open over 200 hotels over the next ten years.
Karan Khanna, Managing Director, United Kingdom and Ireland at IHG, said: “We are excited to open our second voco property in the UK following the successful launch of voco St. David’s in Cardiff. With a focus on conversion opportunities, the voco brand allows us to retain the existing charm of an independent hotel whilst also bringing the reassurances of a trusted brand, along with the power and strength of IHG’s systems.”
