Tokyo (TAN): The Japanese government plans to make multilingual information and free Wi-Fi available on 300 public transport routes in a move to boost tourism, reports said.
In the beginning, foreign language assistance and free network will be made accessible on 100 local bus and train routes operating between airports and popular tourist destinations by March 2020. The government also plans to subsidise about half the cost.

Around 90 tourist sites, including national parks and UNESCO World Heritage sites, will get special guides to help visitors with additional language support.
Also, equipment to help reorganise immigration screening processes could be installed at Tokyo Haneda airport, Hakata port in Fukuoka Prefecture and Hitakatsu port in Nagasaki Prefecture by March 2020.

The initiatives are reportedly part of the government’s plan to draw 40 million foreign visitors to Japan in 2020 when Tokyo hosts the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
