Seoul (TAN): South Korea-based carrier Korean Air will stop operating direct flights from its capital Seoul to Nadi in Fiji from October 1, 2019.
The airline announced the news on its website, asking passengers to get in touch with the service centre if tickets are scheduled after October 1.

Korean Air currently operates three nonstop flights from Seoul’s Incheon International Airport to Nadi, located on the South Pacific country’s main island.
It is the only airline based outside the South Pacific that serves Fiji, an archipelago of over 300 islands. Since the country’s economy is largely dependent on the tourism industry, the termination of Korean air flights is expected to make flying into the island country more time consuming and expensive for visitors, especially from Europe. The seamless transit facility that the airline now provides to travellers from different regions of the world into Fiji, will thereby be lost.

Other airlines serving Fiji include Qantas, Virgin Australia, Jetstar, Air New Zealand and Fiji Airways, along with some small Pacific Island carriers.
The Fiji leisure market could undergo more changes, with Fiji Airways reportedly pulling out of Australian city Adelaide from July 21.
