(TAN): Almost 83,000 international tourists have visited the Maldives since the archipelago nation reopened after a nearly four-month closure because of the Covid-19 pandemic, reports said.
The country’s tourism ministry said 82,902 tourists arrived in the Maldives from July 15 to December 4. A total of 465,749 tourists have visited the country this year.
While 1,701 arrivals were recorded during the first 15 days after the border reopened on July 15, August saw 7,628 arrivals, September 9,538 tourists and October, 21,515.

A total of 35,708 tourists visited in November.
As many as 6,761 tourists arrived in the first four days of December.
Russia is the leading source market since border reopening, with 17,404 arrivals. India remains second with 10,318 arrivals and UK third with 5,703.
