Los Angeles (TAN): A private sector-funded international office of Mexico’s federal tourism board opened in Los Angeles on September 5, less than a year after the country’s national tourism body’s international offices were either closed or transferred to embassies due to lack of funds.
According to a report in Skift, Los Cabos will now be the only Mexican destination to have a promotional office outside of Mexico. As much as 40 per cent of international tourists to Los Cabos come from California.

Located at the tip of the southern Baja California Península, Los Cabos has seen 4% YoY growth international arrivals in the first seven months of 2019 as compared to Mexico’s 1.7% YoY growth.
In the wake of the funding loss, tourism industry stakeholders created a private trust comprised of contributions from hotels, airports, and restaurant operators to promote the destination overseas.
