Istanbul (TAN): Streaming giant Netflix’s first original Turkish series ‘The Protector’ is bringing tourists to the country’s historic capital. A second series being shot at the historic Gobeklitepe in Anatolia is expected to do the same for the tourism industry in the region.
The Protector, which is set is Istanbul, aired in late 2018.
Netflix communication manager for Turkey, the Middle East and Africa Artanc Savas has said many tour companies were conducting tours based on The Protector, Daily Sabah reported.

Saying that the company welcomed the developments though they did not have an official partnership with any tourism company, Savas said: “The new Turkish Netflix series (named ‘Atiye’), which is being shot in Gobeklitepe… will also contribute to the country’s tourism in the same way in the upcoming period.”
“We are expecting ‘Atiye,’ our second original series, to gobeyond the borders,” the report quoted him as saying.

The area where ‘Atiye’ is being shot, Gobeklitepe, is an archaeological site in the southeast of Turkey’s Anatolia region. Structures unearthed at the UNESCO World Heritage Site date as back as 10,000 years or more, say archaeologists.
