Edinburgh (TAN): ScotRail has entered into a partnership with United Kingdom-based bus company Borders Buses to offer integrated train and bus travel to passengers exploring the country’s historic destinations.
The new Borders Explorer ticket, an all-in-one rail and bus ticket, will enable passengers to travel to the border towns on one ticket, whether by train or bus.

ScotRail Tourism Manager Alasdair Smart said: “The Borders Railway has been a phenomenal success as it continues to grow in popularity, benefiting employment, leisure, tourism, and business.”
“The new Borders Explorer ticket will transform the way people travel to and from the border towns, making it even easier, more connected and convenient. Get standard or off-peak travel that provides great value and allows customers to explore the beautiful and historic Borders towns,” he added.
Customers can travel from Edinburgh Waverley railway station and take any Borders Bus from Galashiels Transport Interchange to towns and villages in the region. They can take or get off the train at either Galashiels or Tweedbank for taking the connecting Borders Bus service.
“We’re delighted to be working in partnership with ScotRail. The Borders Explorer joint ticket offers users a simple and easy way to travel, not just to and from but in and around the Scottish Borders,” said Sharon Morrison, commercial manager at Border Buses.
“We hope it plays a part in encouraging more visitors to enjoy this increasingly popular part of Scotland,” she added.
The integrated ticket is available for ‘both peak and off-peak journeys’, ScotRail said.
