Starting March 29, the carrier’s regional airline SilkAir, which presently operates three flights each week to Kolkata, will stop flying to the eastern Indian city. However, it will continue operating to four cities – Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kochi. SIA said travellers that have already reserved seats on SilkAir’s Kolkata flights on and after March 29 will be rebooked on SIA’s flights.
SIA, that so far operates four flights per week to Kolkata, also flies to five other Indian cities, including Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi and Ahmedabad.
Although SIA’s A350-900 will add another service to Kolkata, SilkAir stopping its flights would mean an overall capacity cut.
