(TAN): The world’s longest flight is set to resume again, albeit with a little tweak. Singapore Airlines (SIA) has announced it will resume flights to New York from November 9. The nearly 19-hour Singapore-New York nonstop flight operated by the carrier has the distinction of being the longest flight route of the world.
Until March 23, starting from Singapore’s Changi Airport, the destination of the flight used to be Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. The relaunched flights will head to the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, the airline said. SIA continues to offer direct services to Los Angeles.

The airline will operate an Airbus A350-900 long-range aircraft on the route three times a week. This aircraft is configured with 42 Business Class, 24 Premium Economy Class and 187 Economy Class seats.
“Despite the challenging times for the airline industry, there are some early signs of optimism about a recovery in air travel,” said Lee Lik Hsin, SIA’s executive vice president for commercial. “We will continue to ramp up existing services and reinstate other points as the demand for both passenger and cargo services return.”
