(TAN): New Zealanders looking for a holiday escape this winter are being encouraged to head to the ski regions to try something new.
Tourism New Zealand’s new winter campaign showcases the country’s stunning mountains, world-class ski fields and wide range of winter activities on offer across the country.
Director Commercial, René de Monchy said New Zealanders who usually opt for an overseas holiday somewhere warm at this time of year are missing out on an incredible experience here at home. “There is an amazing range of winter tourism products available in New Zealand that cater to all types of travellers and budgets.

“From a trip to the hot pools with the kids to a weekend spent hitting the slopes with your mates, there really is something out there for everyone. Our campaign showcases all the incredible things there are to see and do in New Zealand at this time of year.”
Tourism New Zealand worked with the regional tourism organisations to bring this campaign to life.
Visit Ruapehu General Manager, Jo Kennedy, said the campaign will play an important role in driving visitors to the ski region over the winter months.
“Nearly 60 percent of all visitor spend in Ruapehu occurred during the ski season in 2019. With our borders closed to international visitors, it’s more important now than ever that New Zealanders get out and travel domestically to support local businesses,” Kennedy said.
“We have an amazing range of winter activities in our region, from ski fields and walking tracks to jet boating, river rafting and a number of dining options to choose from – there’s something for everyone. This campaign highlights why Kiwis should get out and enjoy a holiday at home this winter.”
