Mauro Oretti, head of SkyTeam operations, expressed his enthusiasm about the venture. “We are delighted to open our Santiago Lounge to Priority Pass members flying on SkyTeam member airlines, offering a thoughtfully designed, high quality lounge that blends SkyTeam service with the spirit of Chile to enhance their travel experience,” he said.
Chile’s prominent position as a premier wine producer takes center stage in SkyTeam’s new lounge. An array of local wines awaits, inviting guests to savour the intricate flavours and aromas of Chilean viticulture. From the robust Casa Silva Carmenere exuding notes of black cherries and plums, to the refreshing Reserva Emiliana Chardonnay with its citrusy undertones, the lounge presents an exquisite selection. Travellers are also invited to raise a glass of Gemma or Azur fizz to commemorate their journeys. A wide variety of non-alcoholic beverages, juices, teas, and coffees complete the offering.
Among the lounge’s distinctive features is its very own empanada station, showcasing the authentic flavours of Chile. The fragrant bites, generously filled with spiced meat or cheese, serve as a culinary tribute to the region’s gastronomic heritage. Additionally, guests can indulge in sopaipillas with pebre, a delectable fried street food paired with a flavourful Chilean salsa.
The dining experience at the Santiago Lounge strikes a harmonious balance between local delicacies and global tastes. Noteworthy selections include the mouthwatering Carne a la Cerveza con Puré Rústico, a slow-braised beef infused with beer, as well as the meat-free Pastel de Choclo Vegetariano.
