(TAN): The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Sydney Office and Kad Kokoa have produced a video documentary series, ‘Thai Craft Tales’, to promote Thai food and community tourism destinations.
The new series of videos highlight local fine cuisine from around the Kingdom hosted by some of Thailand’s best chefs. From Krabi to Nakhon Pathom and Nan, in each episode these award-winning chefs talk about local specialties inspired by the local produce unique to each region.
In each episode, chefs from some of Thailand’s most famous restaurants take viewers behind the scenes with stories of their dining concepts, the inspiration behind the featured dishes, the key ingredients, and how they source them. Local farmers and producers have also been interviewed.

In the first episode, Chef Ice from Sorn Restaurant, which has been awarded two Michelin Stars, highlights Southern Thai Food in Krabi. Sorn is thematically inspired by the tropical forests of Southern Thailand, while ingredients are sustainably sourced from a trusted network of farmers and fishermen.
Episode two features Central Food in Nakhon Pathom with Chef Monthep ‘Thep’ Kamolsilp of TAAN showing how he uses organic chickens and eggs in creative Thai cuisine. Chef Thep and his kitchen team pride themselves on working closely with independent local farmers, whose high-quality, seasonal ingredients provide the inspiration for an ever-changing menu.
In the final instalment of ‘Thai Craft Tales’ , scheduled to be aired on November 15, food from the Northern Food in Nan is showcased through Chef Bongkoch ‘Bee’ Satongun of Paste. She and her Australian-born husband, Chef Jason Bailey, opened their first outlet of Paste Bangkok Thai restaurant in 2013, and their reinterpreted Thai menu quickly became one of the most talked about in Bangkok.
