Perth (TAN): Sale of tickets for the first All Nippon Airways (ANA) direct flight between the Western Australia capital and Tokyo started on Thursday.
The flight will operate seven days a week from September 1, 2019, said a Western Australia government statement. The airline will operate a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on the route.
The aircraft will have 32 business class seats, 14 premium economy seats and 138 economy seats.
Perth will be the second Australian city after Sydney to be connected by the ANA.
The flight will depart from Tokyo’s Narita airport at 1100 hours and arrive in perth at 2015 hours the same day. The return flight will leave Perth at 2145 and arrive in Tokyo at 0825 hours the following day.
According to the government statement, return ticket prices between Tokyo and Perth start from AUD861 for economy, AUD1,561 for premium economy and AUD3,521 for business class, inclusive of taxes. There is no extra charge, apart from local taxes, for connections to Osaka, Fukuoka and Nagoya.
Western Australia premier Mark McGowan said: “I have recently returned from a visit to Japan to promote this new Tokyo-Perth route, and met with the President and CEO of All Nippon Airways to personally thank him for ANA’s co-operation and commitment to this new service. I look forward to working with ANA on more opportunities to promote Western Australia as a key tourism destination to visit.”
“This direct service makes it easier to travel between Tokyo and Perth, and will be extremely attractive for Japanese tourists,” Western Australia’s tourism minister Paul Papalia said.
“New direct aviation access like this is absolutely critical to unlocking the tourism potential of Western Australia,” he added.
