(TAN): Tourism Ireland has launched a new online video highlighting the islands around the country, and encouraging potential tourists to “get off the beaten track” on these islands.
Titled “Explore the islands of Ireland”, the video was created by Tourism Ireland, the marketing body responsible for promoting Ireland overseas.

The 1.13 min video urge visitors to discover the lesser known parts of Ireland, and remind them that each island offers a special experience – while some have preserved the old myths such as the “tales of 6th century monks”, others are home to ancient forts, wildlife sanctuaries, and garden temples. Tourists are recommended to spend a day or two exploring the islands.
According to the film, visitors can learn about local traditions, and walk or cycle around on “traffic-free roads” on the islands that can be accessed easily by ferry, cable car or kayak.
The islands that feature in the video consist of Devenish Island, the Skelligs, the Aran Islands, Rathlin Island, the Saltees, Garnish Island, Dursey Island, Copeland Island, Achill Island and Arranmore.

Tourism Ireland is promoting the video through its social media platforms, including YouTube.
Ireland received 654,500 overseas tourists in January 2020, up 0.5% compared to the same period a year ago, according to data from the Central Statistics Office.
The country hosted nearly 11.2 million overseas visitors in 2019.
