Colombo (TAN): Tourists who have flights out of Sri Lanka will be able to travel to the airport despite the nationwide curfew imposed across the country following the eight blasts that took place in and around Colombo killing 207 people and injuring more than 450.
In a statement shared on Twitter, Sri Lanka’s flag carrier said: “Police curfew has been imposed across the island till 6am tomorrow (April 22, 2019).”
“SriLankan Airlines assures passengers of all airlines flying out of Bandaranaike International Airport during the period that they can reach the airport during the curfew,” it said but stressed the passengers had to present their “air tickets and passports to security forces and check points”.

Given the enhanced security measures in place, the airline asked passengers to reach the airport four hours before their departure time.
Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority has urged the public to “depend on information from credible sources and refrain from sharing unverified news from unknown sources, which may instigate unnecessary fear”, especially among tourists.
“We kindly request all Colombo and other Hotels to take maximum measures to strengthen security as Hotels have been one of the main targets. Please assist us in spreading the word and let us not forget to help tourists who are currently in Sri Lanka,” it said in a statement.
