(TAN): United Airlines is set to become the first US carrier to offer direct flights to Manila from the continental US, in addition to adding more non-stop services to Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Taipei. These new flights are scheduled to begin in October, the airline said in a statement.
United’s expansion will see the airline operating long-haul flights to a total of 15 international destinations across the Pacific during the winter. Excluding mainland China flights, United’s transpacific network will be a staggering 50% larger than all other US airlines combined.

Patrick Quayle, SVP of global network planning and alliances at United, said: “United is the flag carrier of the US, and we are excited to bring this new service to Manila while expanding access to Hong Kong, Taipei, and Tokyo.”
Starting on October 29, United will launch a direct service between San Francisco and Manila, making it the sole US airline to offer non-stop transpacific flights to the Philippines. The new flight will operate daily on the Boeing 777-300ER, the airline’s largest aircraft. Additionally, United is the only US carrier currently serving Manila from Guam and Palau, further enhancing its connectivity to the region.
Moreover, beginning on October 28, United will introduce a new daily flight between Los Angeles and Hong Kong on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, reinforcing its position as the sole US airline with non-stop flights to Hong Kong. In total, United will have three daily flights to Hong Kong from both Los Angeles and San Francisco this winter.

United’s expansion in Tokyo is also remarkable. The airline will resume daily, direct service between Los Angeles and Tokyo/Narita on a Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner from October 28, complementing its existing service between Los Angeles and Tokyo-Haneda.
United is also increasing its flying to Taipei, starting October 29, by adding a second daily year-round service from San Francisco. The airline is currently the only U.S. carrier with non-stop flights from the U.S. to Taipei, offering daily service from San Francisco. The new flight to Taipei will be operated on the Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
