Honolulu (TAN): Passengers flying on United States-based carrier Hawaiian Airlines through July can contribute towards the islands’ arts movement and environment. All they have to do is put their feet up and enjoy the airline’s complimentary in-flight entertainment (IFE) programmes.

For every IFE content watched by a passenger, Hawaiian will donate one mile towards three local nonprofits – Hawaii International Film Festival, Na Kama Kai, and the state of Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources’ Malama Hawaii initiative.
Product Manager of in-flight entertainment at Hawaiian Airlines Evan Nomura said: “As Hawaii’s airline, we are proud to share with our guests the many stories that make our island home so special. In the last year, we’ve featured over 300 programs that were either about Hawaiʻi, filmed in Hawaiʻi, or showcased local actors or directors.”

“This month, we are excited to engage our guests as we express our mahalo to organizations that have shared their stories to entertain us but also educate us about important issues affecting our home,” he added.
The airline introduced free IFE on all transpacific flights earlier this month. While passengers seated in main cabin and premium cabin of Airbus A330 aircraft have access to seatback monitors and 13-inch tablets respectively, passengers flying on A321neo can stream in-flight entertainment for their personal devices through the airline’s app.
