London (TAN): A British Airways flight headed to Germany’s Düsseldorf from London landed in Scotland’s capital Edinburgh instead, media reports said.
The blunder occurred after the plane flew north to Scotland instead of going east across the Channel into Europe after taking off from London City Airport earlier this week.

The flight had travelled 500 miles in the wrong direction. However, the error was not identified until it touched down in the Scottish capital.
According to media reports, the mistake happened owing to incorrect filing of the flight plan, which led to the pilot into thinking the flight was scheduled for Edinburgh. The flight was operated by a Germany-based company WDL Aviation on behalf of BA CityFlyer, a wholly owned subsidiary airline of British Airways. Reports said the wrong flight plan was filed at WDL Aviation’s Germany office.
The passengers were in for a surprise when the pilot welcomed them to Edinburgh. Later, they were asked to raise their hands to find out who wanted to go to Germany, reports said.
