London (TAN): United Kingdom-based Belmond Hotels now has a new luxury address – the Belmond Cadogan Hotel at London’s chic Chelsea neighbourhood.
The 130-year old Cadogan Hotel, a favourite meeting place of artists and socialites for decades, rolled out a red carpet for its new guests recently following a multi-million-pound makeover.
Located at 75 Sloane Street, the Cadogan Hotel bears testimony to the city’s rich legacy and cultural past. It used to be frequented by legendary personalities, including the Irish playwright and author Oscar Wilde. Then there was socialite and actress Lillie Langtry who lived in the hotel. It was here that she met both the Prince of Wales and Oscar Wilde.
General Manager at Belmond Cadogan Hotel Klaus Kabelitz said: “Belmond Cadogan Hotel is a London legend reborn.”
“Throughout the decades the hotel has always provided international travellers and Londoners alike with an impeccable retreat with a tradition of serving piping hot tea and an escape from the busy city. Today we provide our guests with a luxurious space to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Chelsea,” he added.

The 54 rooms and suites, some overlooking the Cadogan Place Gardens, come with in-room bars and private libraries put together by ‘John Sandoe Books’, a bookshop owned by a Chelsea family. Guests will have private access to the hotel and Cadogan Place Gardens. To stay true to the hotel’s British hospitality, the Adam Handling Chelsea restaurant rustles up British delicacies.
The Belmond Cadogan Hotel, an artist’s preferred haunt, opened with over 400 original art pieces in the lobby, the hotel said. It also plans to organise literary gatherings throughout the year.
“The Cadogan Hotel has a colourful history – and a wonderful future. Belmond is the perfect partner for us to preserve its unique heritage and character, while evolving into a true retreat for today’s luxury traveller and ‘home from home’ for locals,” said Hugh Seaborn, Chief Executive Officer of Cadogan.

“It fits perfectly with Sloane Street’s international cachet and our vision and strategy for ensuring it becomes the most exclusive and luxurious shopping street in the world, while celebrating the eccentricity, creativity and beauty of the surrounding neighbourhood,” he added.
Deluxe rooms at the hotel can be booked for prices starting from USD 620 per night for two people, which includes complimentary breakfast, access to Cadogan Place Gardens and use of the tennis court.
