(TAN): An online debate has been raging since passengers were seen exiting the burning Aeroflot plane with their luggage on Sunday evening at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport.

At least 41 people have died in the accident, officials said. Eleven more people were injured. The plane had 78 people, including crew members, on board.

Travel blogger Christina Saull said on Twitter: “The number of tweeps & travelers on here who I really respect that have posted today that they would take luggage upon evacuating a burning plane because “they would do it better and not slow anyone else down” is appalling. Leave. Everything. Period. No other option.”

“Once one person starts grabbing luggage, others do it too,” said another user.

“How can this be a discussion?? If 1 person takes 2 seconds to get their bag and people exited every 2 seconds, that’s 1 person per bag. Terrible exchange rate,” another user tweeted.

“41 didn’t make it. A guy and his suitcase did. Sometimes this world is so hard to understand… Thoughts and prayers to those who lost their loved ones,” a third user tweeted.

Reports quoting the pilot, crew and passengers said the SU1492 flight from Moscow to to Murmansk in northwestern Russia caught fire after it was struck by lightning.
