British Airways’ new lounge in San Francisco, US

San Francisco (TAN): British Airways has launched its third new lounge in the United States here, after opening its First and Club lounge at New York JFK Airport’s Terminal 7.

San Francisco, apart from being the entryway to Silicon Valley’s technology hub, is also a popular leisure destination.

“We know that lounges form an important part of the journey for some of our customers, so we’re delighted to be able to open this new space in San Francisco, the third lounge in the US to benefit from our investment program,” British Airways’ Director of Brand and Customer Experience, Carolina Martinoli said.

She added: “We think customers will love the new look and feel. We have had such positive feedback from customers who have experienced our New York lounge and they both follow the same design concept.”

The lounge, sprawled across 665 square metres, is divided into different zones according to the requirements of guests. While those looking to relax can opt for the lounge’s centerpiece the granite feature bar, guests that need to work can do so at the study area that comes with wireless printing facilities. The main seating area has a deli bar with drink and food options. First Class travellers can use the boutique dining room.

British design firm planned the interiors while San Francisco-based architecture company William Duff Architects gave the lounge a contemporary feel. Featuring floor to ceiling glass windows, the lounge offers unobstructed views of the runway. The space also showcases several pieces of artwork by local artists.

The lounge in San Francisco is British Airways’ fifth lounge to sport the new design concept. The other lounges that feature the concept comprise Club and First lounges in New York’s JFK Airport, Rome in Italy and Aberdeen in Scotland.
