Avios is the reward points of the British Airways loyalty program. Travellers collect Avios when they fly or book a hotel with the airline. The points can be spent for rewards such as flights, upgrades, hotel stays and car hire.

(TAN): British Airways has announced to halve the amount of Avios for flying to any long haul destination, in any cabin.

For a limited time, the number of Avios needed to book a long haul Reward Flight across any cabin has been slashed by 50%. This means that customers can pick up return flights to destinations like Los Angeles for 30,00o Avios or Dubai for 25,000 Avios, paying a cash amount on top of this to cover taxes, fees and carrier charges.

Customers who want to use their Avios for a short haul getaway can do so at a 25% reduction, meaning they can secure a return trip to Venice for 16,500 Avios or Athens for 19,500 Avios.

Customers must book by October 13, and travel by June 30, 2021 to avail the offer.

Niall Rooney, head of the British Airways Executive Club, said: “This is a rare promotion for all our loyal Executive Club Members who are longing to get travelling again. Whether they want to relax in the Maldives, go camel riding in Dubai or enjoy the canals in Venice, they can now reach their destination for a significantly reduced amount of Avios.”
