Hong Kong (TAN): Hong Kong-based airline Cathay Pacific will operate a new service to the Japanese city of Niigata, and resume flights to Tokushima this winter.
The carrier’s subsidiary Cathay Dragon will fly to Niigata twice every week on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting October 30, subject to regulatory approval. The only nonstop service between Niigata and Hong Kong will be served by a two-class Airbus A330 aircraft until March 28, 2020. The flight is expected to offer more seats to ski enthusiasts travelling to hit the slopes on the west coast of the country’s Honshu Island.
The seasonal service to Tokushima on Shikoku Island will resume on November 9, subject to government approval, to operate twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The flight, that was introduced last winter, will fly until March 28, 2020 using a two-class Airbus A320.

“We’re delighted to offer these additional seasonal services to Japan this winter, providing our customers with more ways to discover exciting new experiences across this beautiful and culturally rich country,” Cathay Pacific Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Paul Loo said.
“Japan is one of the most popular destinations for Hong Kong travellers and our routes there consistently perform well. Opening up routes to destinations not currently served forms a key part of our growth strategy and further boosts Hong Kong’s status as the leading international aviation hub in Asia,” he added.
Tickets for the seasonal service are available, including open-jaw tickets that will enable passengers to fly to Niigata or Tokushima and return to Hong Kong from another destination in Japan, or the other way around.
According to the schedule, flight KA308 will depart Hong Kong on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 1030 hours, reaching Niigata at 1530 hours, while the return flight KA309 will leave Niigata at 1700 hours to arrive at Hong Kong at 2130 hours. Flight KA322 will take off from Hong Kong at 0925 hours to arrive in Tokushima at 1400 hours. The return flight KA323 will depart Tokushima at 1615 hours to land in Hong Kong at 1935 hours.
Cathay Pacific started a new scheduled summer seasonal service to Komatsu in the Ishikawa Prefecture earlier this year, which will operate until October 26.
