Stage set for voco to enter Mexico

Mexico’s first two voco hotels will open in Guadalajara and Saltillo.

(TAN): IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed agreements for two new voco hotels in Guadalajara and Saltillo, Mexico. The signings mark the introduction of the voco hotels upscale hospitality brand to the Mexico market.

Scheduled to open in late 2022 under the ownership of Vertex Ophthalmic Group, the voco hotel Guadalajara Neruda will occupy five floors of the 11-story Neruda 2828 mixed-use project within the city’s financial district. Featuring 104 guest rooms, a neighbourhood restaurant and bar, rooftop terrace, and business and fitness centers, the hotel will welcome business and leisure travellers into an environment that is comfortable and reliable, but also vibrant and of unique character.

Jorge Celis, COO, Vertex Ophthalmic Group, said: “The new voco hotel is an ideal fit for the Guadalajara Neruda complex, which will bring a modern vibe and a host of professional, commercial and leisure visitors to the area.”

The voco hotel Saltillo is projected to open in 2023, with owner and developer American Hotels Group leading the conversion of a property originally built as an independent hotel in 2006. Conveniently located among Saltillo’s automotive and manufacturing district and adjacent to the American Sports Center recreation complex, voco hotel Saltillo will feature 125 guest suites, more than 700 square feet of meeting space, a fitness center, indoor pool, and both a restaurant and bar.
