India: Kerala to host health tourism summit next month

Kochi (TAN): As the Indian state of Kerala readies for monsoon tourism, it will also host the seventh edition of Kerala Health Tourism on July 3 and 4, 2019.

Organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the international conference and exhibition on health tourism will be held at Kochi’s Hotel Le Meridien. The CII is a non-profit and non-government business association that was founded in 1895.

Kerala attracts 5 to 7 per cent of medical travel amounting to USD200 million annually, according to 2016 data. The state could increase the arrival of medical tourists by 10 to 15 per cent, the conference website said.

The conference, that expects over 400 delegates, will act as an interactive platform for medical experts where they can discuss ideas for innovation, reports said. The exhibition, on the other hand, could host over 1000 visitors.

Kerala Health Tourism 2019 will reportedly focus on the challenges in healthcare insurance and medical tourism, online medical tourism marketing, cultural competence in international patient care, use of technology in healthcare business, and the role of medical facilitators in medical tourism, among other issues.
