Mumbai (TAN): Headed to Nagpur? Travelling around the city could soon become a breeze.
The first phase of Nagpur Metro in the Indian state of Maharashtra, stretching over 13.5 kilometres, was flagged off recently.

This phase covers five stations between Khapri and Sitabuldi, and has started operations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the line.
Nagpur Metro network is the second metro service in the state after Mumbai Metro, work on which started in June 2015.
“It will be the greenest metro in the country with 65 per cent of its electricity consumption from solar energy,” Maha Metro Managing Director Brijesh Dixit was quoted by media reports as saying.

He also said that the project will have two corridors with a total length of 38 kilometres, 38 stations, two depots and a fleet of 69 metro cars, including a special “nari shakti” women’s coach in each train.
