(IBNS): In an effort to provide relief to passengers, the Railway Board has issued an order to reduce the fares of AC chair cars and executive classes on all trains, including Vande Bharat, Anubhuti, and Vistadome coaches, media reports said.
The extent of the reduction will be determined based on occupancy levels and fares of competitive modes of transport.
The railway ministry has given authority to the principal chief commercial managers of railway zones to introduce discounted fare schemes for trains with AC seating, aiming to optimize accommodation utilization.

The discounted scheme will be applicable to AC chair car and executive classes on trains equipped with AC seating.
The discount, up to a maximum of 25 percent on the basic fare, will be applied, while additional charges will be levied separately.
The discount may be provided in any or all classes based on occupancy levels.
Trains with occupancy less than 50 percent in the last 30 days will be considered, and the fares of competitive modes of transport will serve as the benchmark for determining the discount percentage.
