New Delhi (TAN): India-based low-cost airline IndiGo has announced it will operate non-stop flights between Delhi and Istanbul daily starting March 20 this year.

With the new flight route becoming operational, the Turkish city will become the airline’s 16th international destination.

IndiGo will use its Airbus A321 aircraft to fly this route.

The company’s Chief Commercial Officer William Boulter said: “It is our privilege to be the first Indian carrier to fly into Turkey. Istanbul is one of the most attractive tourist cities in the world and the gateway from Asia into Europe. Istanbul holds immense potential for IndiGo, and this launch is part of organic expansion within Europe for us, as we complement our domestic network with international connectivity.”

The new route is expected to offer both business travellers and vacationers with more affordable flying options.

“IndiGo will continue to expand its network to meet the requirements of both business and leisure travellers wherever they demand it. It is our constant endeavour to provide more flexibility of choice to our customers as IndiGo continues to offer them on-time, courteous and hassle-free service, and an affordable flying experience always,” Boulter added.
